Public Speaking Workshop

PROGRAM OUTLINE:

This innovative program requires the students to prepare a topic from a variety of categories (such as a "how to" speech, a science experiment, a speech to persuade, current events, etc.) to present to their peers. The presentation must include handouts (prepared by the students), in addition to the oral component. Photos are taken during the presentation and are entered into the computer along with a write-up. All the material is then printed out and collated in a booklet that is shared with schoolmates.

OBJECTIVES:

1) Students are highly motivated to act in the role of the instructor.

2) Students are called upon to utilize many important skills- speaking, writing, computer literacy, photography, journalism.

3) By encompassing diverse areas of talent , it allows each student to excel in skills that are often not used in the classroom setting.

4) By showcasing the students' "hidden talent" to his peers, it is an effective self-esteem builder and self-confidence booster.

5) Giving the students a wide range of topics allows students to choose topics that are of high interest to them.
